Watch Legally Blonde for retirement inspiration (yes, the movie)
That’s right, I did say watch Legally Blonde for retirement inspiration.
If this conjures up images of a blonde, pink and sparkly Elle Woods or Reese Witherspoon, whether you’ve seen the film or not, then you’re on the right track.
I came across Legally Blonde recently whilst channel surfing.
Having not seen it for many years, I watched it through a different lens.
You won’t be surprised that it made me think about how Elle’s story relates to retirement, and how we can draw inspiration from her journey of self-discovery and self-expression.
Elle joined Harvard Law School, blonde and sparkly, and struggled to fit in with her peers, in their own stereotypical and judgemental cliques.
Thinking and working in an expected way that didn’t value or reflect Elle’s personality or mindset, limited Elle and made her smaller.
When Elle came back to herself, valuing her own perspective and individuality, she successfully applied her knowledge of hair care chemistry to win a murder case.
In being free to be herself, Elle shone as well as sparkled.
What part of yourself do you want to more fully express in retirement?
What expectations for how you live your life, that come from you or others, do you want to challenge?
What do you want to do more of that makes you feel free, to shine and sparkle in your own way?
Get in touch for a conversation about how we can work together to help you focus and make change.
Or if you want to talk about Legally Blonde, I’d love that too.
